A Century in the Making: A New Maroon Arrives

Behind the scenes at Butte Central, an exciting secret is brewing just in time for Homecoming 2026.

Since the early 1910’s, our school has proudly carried the name "Maroons”. Legend has it that our very first football team couldn't afford their own uniforms. Showing early signs of Maroon resourcefulness, those boys borrowed a faded set of red jerseys from the Centerville Reds. From that humble, borrowed beginning, a century-long legacy was born.

For over one hundred years, being a Maroon has meant everything to our community. The name represents our core values: leadership, grit, resilience, gratitude, belonging, kindness, and knowledge. Our students, alumni, boosters, and friends all share a deep, unmatched pride in being part of this tight-knit Maroon family.

Now, a new chapter of our history is about to unfold.

During this year's Homecoming celebrations on September 10-11, the school system will officially introduce the newest member of the Maroon family. This mystery addition embodies the spirit of our rich history while carrying our traditions forward into the future.

No matter how we grow or what changes the future brings, one thing remains set in stone: we are, and always will be, the Butte Central Maroons. This new addition is simply here to help us carry that torch.

Who or what is joining our ranks? We can't share the details just yet. You will have to wait for the big reveal during Homecoming week to find out. Get ready to welcome the newest Butte Central Maroon!
