Catholic Schools Week - BC High School Activity Schedule

Theme: “Catholic Schools United in Faith and Community”

January 25-29, 2026

Sunday, January 25th: “Celebrating Parish Life”

Focus: Promoting active participation in the church and celebrating and thanking our local Parishes and Priests. Parents from Butte Central schools will address the congregation at each Mass in the Butte

Community with a prewritten script about National Catholic Schools Week.

Monday, January 26th: "United in Our Community"

Focus: Service and visibility within the local community.

● The "Sidewalk Evangelization" Project: Sidewalk chalk will be provided at the school

entrances. Between classes, during lunch, or whenever is convenient for each teacher,

ensuring that ALL students have the opportunity to add something...students will write

inspirational or faith based quotes for visitors and parents to see.

● Coffee & Gratitude Run: Have student leadership deliver coffee and donuts to local first responders (police/fire stations) or local businesses like the KC that support the school.

● "Donuts for a Cause": Student council will sell donuts at school for $2.00 and the funds will be donated to a specific local Catholic charity (e.g., St. Vincent de Paul). *We will decide as a school what cause we want to donate the money to.

Tuesday, January 27th: "United in Our Students"

Focus: Celebration of student life, mental health, and gifts.

● "Secret Saint" Affirmations: Similar to Secret Santa, students will draw names on

Monday and must leave an anonymous, genuine note of encouragement or a "prayer

intention" for that person today.

● The "Golden Ticket" Giveaway: Hide one "Golden Ticket" (no-homework pass, or some voucher of that teacher's choice) in each classroom.

● ALL SCHOOLS MASS - “Celebrating our Butte Central Community”:

1. All students and staff K-12 will need to report to and attend Holy Mass together at St. Patrick’s Church at 8:15 am, located at 329 W. Mercury St. in Butte.

2. Butte Central students will be readers and Altar Servers.

3. We would love to have all Butte Central parents join us for Holy Mass at St. Patrick’s

Church. Bishop Vetter will be at this special Mass service.

Wednesday, January 28th: "United in Our Nation"

Focus: Civic responsibility and global solidarity.

● BC Community Breakfast: the generous KC staff will host a breakfast for all high school students, staff, and local priests that are available to attend.

● Living for Peace Chain: each member of the student body will write prayer intentions on a piece of paper that will be made into chain links and then linked together and hung up in the rotunda. We will pray together as a school for each intention (for national unity and specific global intentions e.g., Middle East peace, local poverty, family unity and peace etc.). The chain will be created on Monday and hung up, but the prayer service will take place on Wednesday or Thursday.

● Letters to Deployed Chaplains: High school Theology students will write mature,

thoughtful letters to Catholic Military Chaplains, who often feel isolated and appreciate

hearing from students in the faith.

● "Stump the Priest" Q&A: We will invite a local priest for an open-mic session in the

auditorium after the KC breakfast. Allow students to ask the "hard" questions about faith, ethics, and modern life in an unfiltered (but respectful) environment.

Thursday, January 29th: "United in Vocations"

Focus: Discerning God’s call in "Normal Lives" (the 2026 sub-theme).

● Alumni Career & Faith Panel: Invite young alumni (college-age or early career) to speak about how they live out their faith in secular environments like university campuses or corporate jobs. This will have to take place virtually since most alumni are out of town for college.

● Vocations "Walk": Stations will be set up around the chapel or gym focusing on different paths: Marriage, Priesthood, Religious Life, and Single Life, with reflection prompts for each. Students will have the opportunity to reflect on what vocation most suits them.

Looking forward to seeing all parents, students, and staff at the Holy Mass on Tuesday,

January 27th.
