Ganzenmueller and Peck Lead Butte Central at December Splash

The Butte Central Catholic swim team turned in a strong performance at the 2025 Butte High School December Splash, highlighted by a standout showing from Freshman Shamus Peck and Junior Tessa Ganzenmueller. Competing against some of the top programs in the state at the Butte YMCA.
Peck delivered the Maroons top individual performances in the boys’ 50-yard freestyle, finishing eighth overall with a time of 26.53 in a deep sprint field. He followed that with an impressive swim in the 100-yard butterfly, placing sixth with a time of 1:09.06. The butterfly race showcased Peck’s growing strength and confidence as he maintained a strong pace throughout the race against experienced competitors.
The Maroon boys also saw solid contributions from Connor Hardy, who placed ninth in the 50-yard freestyle at 26.65 and later finished sixth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.13. Conan Holmes gained valuable varsity experience in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events, continuing to build race confidence as the season progresses.
On the girls’ side, the Maroons showed depth and consistency across individual events and relays. The BC girls’ 200-yard medley relay team of Morgan Hardy, Tia Thompson, Tessa Ganzenmueller, and Arwen Regester opened the meet with a time of 2:20.00. The same group later combined for a 2:05.96 finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Individually, Tessa Ganzenmueller continued to be a key point scorer for BC, finishing sixth in the 100-yard freestyle and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke. Morgan Hardy posted a tenth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle and added a sixth-place result in the 100-yard backstroke. Tia Thompson and Arwen Regester contributed across multiple events while supporting relay lineups.
Overall, the December Splash marked another positive step forward for the Butte Central swim program. Led by Ganzenmueller and Peck’s standout performance and supported by strong efforts throughout the lineup, the Maroons continue to show steady improvement as they begin the season.
