In August 2024, Butte Central senior Molly Clare Peck accepted a work-study position with Butte Broadcasting, gaining hands-on experience in radio and media production while still in high school. The opportunity has allowed Molly to work across several local stations, including KOPR 94.1, KBOW AM 550 , KGLM Magic 100.3 , and The River oldies station.
Molly’s role at Butte Broadcasting is wide-ranging and immersive. Her responsibilities include answering telephones, producing radio commercials, assisting with programming, and helping plan and staff community events such as Treat Street. She has also served as a co-host alongside Shane Cox on Friday’s Party Line, where she helps run trivia segments and interact live with listeners.
Molly is a regular on-air personality for KBOW Radio. She assists with sports broadcasts, supports live remotes, and helps coordinate field programming where station personalities broadcast from local businesses and community locations. These remotes allow advertisers to connect directly with listeners, and Molly plays an important role in keeping those broadcasts running smoothly.
In addition to her weekday duties, Molly is also the weekend on-air personality for KBOW. During live weekend shifts, she delivers weather and news updates, introduces music, and keeps programming moving on schedule. Working live on the air has strengthened her confidence, timing, and ability to communicate clearly with the listening audience.

Molly also records overnight programming for KOPR 94.1. Six days a week, she comes into the station for approximately 20 to 45 minutes to record weather updates, news segments, and station identifications. These recordings air overnight from midnight until 6 AM, ensuring the station remains live, local, and current even during late-night hours.
For Molly, the job has helped fulfill a long-held dream of working in recording and broadcasting. The experience has given her a behind-the-scenes understanding of how radio works while allowing her to take on real responsibility in a professional setting.
As she considers scholarship offers and college options, Montana Tech remains one of the schools she is seriously considering. Molly is interested in pursuing environmental engineering and is focused on choosing a path that allows her to minimize student debt while earning a strong, practical education. If she attends Montana Tech, she hopes to continue working part-time at Butte Broadcasting while completing her degree.
Molly credits much of her positive experience to the supportive environment at the station. Her supervisor, Ron Davis, and his daughter and fellow supervisor, Maggie Davis, have been welcoming, supportive, and intentional about including her in all aspects of station life, from daily operations to company activities and holiday events.
“Working at Butte Broadcasting has been a lot of fun and very educational,” Molly says. “I’ve learned how much work goes into radio beyond what listeners hear, and I’ve gained confidence by being trusted with real responsibilities. It’s helped me see what I’m capable of and what I want to do next.”
Butte Central is proud to recognize Molly Clare Peck for her professionalism, curiosity, and commitment to learning, both in the classroom and throughout the Butte community.
