All-State Honor Highlights Sutton’s Stellar Season for Butte Central

Butte Central junior guard Joshua Sutton was selected Southwestern A All-State and first-team all-conference after leading the Maroons with 19 points per game and 42 percent shooting from three, making 74 threes on the season. Teammates Ryan Peoples and Jaxon Hiatt were named to the second team, while GG Fantini earned honorable mention. On the girls’ side, Zayonna Otherbull and Rylee Forbes were honorable mention picks for the Maroons.


Sutton shares All-State recognition in the conference with Frenchtown’s Hank Smith and Cooper Michaud and Dillon’s Braxtyn Turney and Cohen Hartman, with Smith also claiming league MVP. Peoples averaged 13.5 points and shined during the Western A Divisional and Class A State tournaments, while Hiatt posted 9.9 points and a team-best 5.7 rebounds per game. Fantini contributed 5.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per night for BC.


In girls’ awards, Boise State signee Mason Quinn of Frenchtown was named MVP, joining Jezzy Palmer plus Dillon standouts Tess Tash, Landri Hartman and Cassie Keller on the first team. Quinn, Palmer, Tash and Hartman also garnered All-State honors. Stevensville’s Addi Drye, Dillon’s Kaitlyn Konen, Hamilton’s Ashlynn McKern, Frenchtown’s Ryan Lucier and Corvallis’ Ella Varner made the second team.



For Butte Central, junior forward Forbes averaged 5.1 points and 8.9 rebounds, while sophomore guard Otherbull chipped in 8.8 points and 5.0 boards per game as both joined a deep list of honorable mention selections from around the league.
