Kellicut and McCarthy Shine at State Track Meet

Butte Central athletes Palmer Kellicut and Danny McCarthy capped off outstanding seasons by representing the Maroons at the 2026 Class A State Track and Field Championships in Laurel.


McCarthy delivered one of the top performances of his career on the state's biggest stage. Competing in the 100-meter dash finals, the junior sprinted to a personal-best time of 11.10 seconds and earned a fifth-place finish among Montana's best Class A sprinters. His performance was the culmination of a season filled with consistent improvement, hard work, and success on the track.

Kellicut qualified for the state meet in the hurdles after a strong sophomore campaign. Throughout the season, he established himself as one of the top young hurdlers in Class A, earning his place among the state's elite competitors. His appearance at the state championships reflects the dedication and determination he demonstrated all season long. Kellicutt placed fouth in the 110 High Hurdles with a time of 15.03.


Competing at the state level is an achievement reserved for the best athletes in Montana, and both McCarthy and Kellicut represented Butte Central with pride, sportsmanship, and determination. Their accomplishments are a testament to the hard work they put in every day and the support of their coaches, teammates, families, and the entire Maroon community.
