Maroons Celebrate Homecoming with Dominant 54-0 Victory
There was plenty to celebrate Friday night as the Butte Central Maroons capped off an exciting Homecoming Week with a dominant 54-0 victory over the Ronan Chiefs at Montana Tech’s Bob Green Field.
The Maroons came into the game looking for their first win of the season, and they wasted little time making their presence known. From the opening whistle, Butte Central played with energy, confidence, and determination on both sides of the football.
Sophomore quarterback Noah Sutton led the Maroon offense with an outstanding performance, throwing six touchdown passes as BC's offense consistently found the end zone. The passing attack was complemented by a strong overall offensive effort that kept the Ronan defense under pressure throughout the night.
Senior Giovanni “GG” Fantini was also a major contributor to the victory, finding the end zone four times in the Homecoming win. The performance made an already special night even more memorable for Fantini, who was crowned Homecoming King during halftime festivities.
While the offense put up 54 points, the Maroon defense was equally impressive. Butte Central held Ronan scoreless for the entire game, creating a complete team performance and earning the Maroons their first victory of the 2026 season.
The victory was especially meaningful after two tough losses to begin the season. The Maroons showed tremendous resilience, responding to those setbacks with a performance that energized the team, student body, families, and the entire Butte Central community.
Homecoming Week brought the entire school together, with students participating in spirit activities, the Homecoming parade, pep rally, and the presentation of the Homecoming Court. The football team provided the perfect ending to the celebration with a convincing win under the Friday night lights.
For the Maroons, the 54-0 victory was more than just a win in the standings. It was a night that showcased Maroon pride, teamwork, determination, and the spirit of the Butte Central community.
The Maroons will now enjoy a bye week before returning to action on September 25 at Corvallis, where they will begin Southwest A conference play.
