Maroons Continue to Grow and Compete on the Volleyball Court
The Butte Central volleyball team is continuing to build chemistry, confidence, and determination as the 2026 season moves forward.
The Maroons have faced a challenging early-season schedule, competing against strong Class A opponents while giving a young roster valuable experience. The team has shown steady improvement and a willingness to battle through every point, set, and match.
During Homecoming Week, the Maroons welcomed Stevensville to the Maroon Activities Center for a Thursday night matchup. Playing in front of a spirited home crowd, Butte Central battled throughout the evening but ultimately fell to the Yellowjackets, 3-0, with Stevensville taking the sets 25-14, 25-21, and 25-19.
Despite the result, the match provided another opportunity for the Maroons to compete together and continue developing as a team.
Leading the way for Butte Central is senior Rylee Forbes, a 6-foot-1 middle blocker who brings experience, athleticism, and leadership to the court. Junior Olivia Scott is another key contributor for the Maroons, giving BC additional offensive firepower and experience.
The Maroons have also already shown flashes of what this team can accomplish. At the early-season tournament in late August, BC battled to ties against Ronan, Browning, Whitefish, and Libby while also picking up a 2-0 victory over Lockwood.
Those early matches have given the team valuable experience and helped the Maroons learn how to compete together against some of the best teams in the region.
As the season continues, Butte Central will look to turn those lessons into success on the court. The team’s focus remains on improving each day, supporting one another, and continuing to represent Butte Central with pride.
The Maroons are scheduled to return to action Thursday, September 17, when they host Corvallis at the Maroon Activities Center, followed by a Saturday match at Frenchtown.
With a combination of experienced leaders and young players gaining valuable varsity experience, the Maroons have plenty of volleyball still ahead of them.
