Ryan Peoples: Butte Central’s Star Quarterback Commits to Montana Tech Football

Excitement is building in the Butte community as local high school football standout Ryan Peoples has officially committed to continuing his football career at Montana Tech. This marks a major milestone for both Ryan and the Oredigger football program, as a homegrown talent readies to make his mark at the collegiate level.


From Maroon Helm to Oredigger

Ryan Peoples, the dynamic senior quarterback for Butte Central High School, announced his commitment on October 30, 2025, via social media. With a simple yet powerful message, “Excited to announce my commitment to Montana Tech Football! Can't wait to get to work! Roll Diggs!!!” Ryan has set the stage for a promising next chapter in his football journey.


Leading the Maroons Back to Glory


This season, Ryan played a pivotal role in Butte Central’s resurgence, guiding the Maroons to their first playoff app

earance since 2019. His leadership on and off the field has been nothing short of inspirational. Notably, Ryan’s stellar performance against longtime rival Dillon stands out, where he completed 19 passes on 28 attempts for 354 yards and four touchdowns, sealing a historic 38-27 win.


Named Athlete of the Week by Butte Sports, Ryan’s composure and skill have energized the Maroon faithful and demonstrated his growth as a field general.


The Numbers Behind the Talent

Ryan’s stats speak volumes about his abilities and potential. Across his junior and senior seasons, he has amassed impressive numbers on MaxPreps:

  • In the 2025-26 senior season, over 1,600 passing yards and multiple touchdowns across 8 games.

  • The previous year saw over 1,300 passing yards and a 50%+ completion rate.

  • His leadership helped catapult the Maroons into playoff contention with a balanced arm and running threat.


Not only has he developed physically, gaining size and strength to compete at higher levels, but he’s also sharpened his decision-making and consistency, making him a well-rounded quarterback prospect.
