  • Butte Central Schools Growing Stronger Together

Butte Central Schools are starting the year with exciting momentum enrollment is on the rise, and our halls are filled with more students eager to learn, grow, and be part of the Maroon tradition. This increase is more than just numbers. It’s a reflection of the strong sense of community, values, and opportunities that families find at Butte Central. Parents are choosing BC because they know their children will be supported by dedicated teachers, challenged academically, and encouraged to develop both their faith and character. The growth can also be seen in the energy around campus. Classrooms are buzzing with curiosity, our extracurricular programs are thriving with new participants, and school events feel even more alive as new and returning families come together. Whether it’s on the athletic field, in the arts, or through service opportunities, our students are discovering their talents and building lifelong friendships. We’re especially grateful to the families who continue to spread the word about what makes Butte Central special. It’s that word-of-mouth parents sharing their experiences, alumni reflecting on the difference BC made in their lives, and our community cheering us on that helps others see the value of becoming part of the Maroon family. As we welcome new students alongside those who have been with us for years, we’re reminded of the strength that comes from growing together. Each child adds something unique to our school, and together we’re building a future filled with promise, tradition, and Maroon pride. Here’s to a wonderful year ahead, with more students, more opportunities, and more reasons to celebrate being part of Butte Central Schools. Go Maroons!

  • Maroon Weekly Recap: Butte Central Sports, September 7–13

It was another busy week for the Maroons, with football, volleyball, and cross country all in action. Here’s a look back at how Butte Central teams fared on the fields, courts, and courses. Friday Night Lights: Football on Fire The BC football team brought plenty of sparks — literally. On Friday, Sept. 12 , the Maroons exploded to a 40-0 lead over Ronan  before lightning storms forced the game to be called early in Missoula. Quarterback Ryan Peoples  was electric, tossing five touchdown passes  and running in another himself. Touchdown grabs came from Jack Nagle, Jaxon Hiatt, GG Fantini, Henley Mansanti, and Treigh Hollow . Even in a shortened game, BC showed off a deep and dangerous offense that spread the ball around. The win comes just a week after BC’s dramatic 17-16 victory over Hardin , sealed by senior Jack Nagle’s clutch 32-yard field goal as time expired . Nagle earned Athlete of the Week honors for his heroics, while Peoples is quickly earning the same spotlight after his six-score performance against Ronan. The Maroons look confident and battle-tested as conference play heats up. On the Court: Volleyball Battles at Ronan The Butte Central volleyball squad hit the road on Saturday, Sept. 13  to take on Ronan. The Maroons fell in straight sets 25-12, 25-17, 26-24 , but showed resilience late, nearly pushing the match into a fourth set. Though BC is still looking for its first win of the season, the competitive third set highlighted their fight and growth as a team. With more experience, this group has the pieces to turn close sets into victories. On the Run: Cross Country Keeps Pace The Maroons also kept busy on the trails this week. On Sept. 9 , BC hosted their annual Butte Central Invitational  at Fairmont Hot Springs, welcoming teams from around the region. On Sept. 13 , they traveled to the Corvallis Invite , where freshman Ashley White  turned in a solid Varsity Girls’ finish at 25:09.0 , placing 32nd in a strong field. Cross country is showing steady development, with young runners gaining experience and posting competitive times. Looking Ahead Momentum is building across BC athletics. Football is proving it can win in both dramatic fashion and dominant fashion. Volleyball is learning to close out tight sets, and cross country runners are making strides week by week. The fall season is still young, but if this past week is any indication, Maroon fans have plenty to cheer about. Go Maroons!

  • Maroon Hurricane Hits Griz Stadium

The Butte Central Maroons came out on fire and put together a great 1st quarter in Washington Grizzly Stadium in Thursday's Class A contest against the Ronan Chiefs. Quarterback Ryan Peoples passed for five TD passes and rushed for another in the first quarter. The Maroons lead 40-0 before lightening forced the teams off the field with 10 minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter. Instead of waiting for the storm to pass, Ronan's Administration opted to end the game due to the lopsided outcome of the first 14 minutes. In addition to the strong offensive showing, the Maroon defense flexed its muscle and forced multiple negative plays by the Ronan offense . The Maroons held the Chiefs to a negative 27 yards and no first downs . Head Coach Don Peoples praised his team's fast start. "Our kids came out and played great football tonight and played with great focus and intensity. I'm proud of how our staff and players prepared for this game". Offensively , the Maroons scored on all 6 first quarter possessions. BC receivers Jack Nagle, Jaxon Hiatt, GG Fantini, Henley Mansanti and Treigh Hollow all had touchdown receptions in the win. Defensive highlights for the Maroons included an interception by Jaxon Hiatt and sacks by Danny McCarthy, Bobby McCarthy, Palmer Kellicut, and JJ Taylor . The victory moved the Maroons to 2-1 on the season. Next week the Maroons will have a bye. They will return home on September 26 for a Homecoming Conference Game against Corvallis.
